Introducing The 2011 Texas Rollergirls

Below are the 2011 poster-girls featuring almost every skater in the league. These posters will be plastered all over this fine city encouraging people to come watch the fastest growing sport in the world. They will also be sold at the bouts for the fans to get autographed.

Our intention for the campaign is to create a bond between spectators & skaters – to turn spectators into fans as well as to establish Texas Rollergirls skaters as serious athletes and local celebrities.

I Got Smacked!

As a new member of the Texas Rollergirls (After 9 weeks of tryouts I was drafted by the Hell Marys in November and am beyond thrilled), I have the honor of joining the marketing department to work on graphics for the upcoming season. The first job was to market the lovingly named SMACK PACKS (season passes). We created a mini-website at GetSmackedTX.com to lead people to the already set-up ticketing site:

So, if you live in Austin or will be in town on any of the dates above – come see me skate! Buy your tickets now!

Creating marketing to SELL a product is a great challenge and one we embrace daily, however, getting to actually design the PRODUCT? Well, that’s a welcome and exciting project that BlaseDesign is lucky enough to have courtesy of DudeGirl. Along with graphic tees and embellishments to the casual/yoga lines, we have been hired to create cycling kits for Dude Girl. The latest is a collaboration between Kim, DG’s fearless leader, and me (Aimee Blase) — the Hot Rod Cycling Kit.

The direction from Kim was: HOT ROD. FLAMES… But, with a new take on it. Can I just tell you how much I love working with Dude Girl!? Granted we have worked together for years and years, but, the trust and mutual respect makes for such a pleasant and happy work relationship and you can see it in the end product!

My new take was to simplify and make the flames be almost secondary. I contrasted the organic sweeping curves of the flames with a color-block layout for the pieces. The colors have a bit of a sock-hop, vintage inspiration which I love.

The Hot Rod Kit isn’t for sale yet – it’s being unveiled at INTERBIKE this week – but, get on the email list so that you’ll be notified of all new stuff!

Truckee, CA – Beer Capital of The…

…well, Sierras – at least!

Fifty Fifty Brewing Company is dear to our hearts. Way back in the day, BlaseDesign named the company, among many other projects to get them up and running. The owners left their smarty-pants careers in Sacramento to make great beer and live the life they had only dreamed of in the mountains. Inspired by the idea of living a killer, more balanced life we came up with “FiftyFifty”. It has a nice ring to it and also refers to a snowboard trick – not a bad coincidence for a ski-town restaurant/brewery.

After years of winning international awards for their beers they have finally decided to bottle the stuff. The first one is Donner Party Ale. We opted for a classic, but, rich and colorful design that focuses on the name and the icon-graphic that we created for each beer.

And there are more labels coming soon:

We are honored, as ever to be a part of this company’s journey. And love filling our bellies each time we head back to town.
